World Eaters Dark Apostle WIP

Here is the tacked together WIP of my World Eaters Dark Apostle. The head is still not final. May go with a helmet, may stick with this head, may use another helmetless head. For the belt buckle I am deciding between a Chaos star with Khorne symbol or another skull like thing. Also, there is giant Khorne icon with skull-speaker that will go on the backpack. There will be sacrificial knife in the left hand, in a reverse grip. The right hand will have the Accursed Crozius.

As anyone that may follow my blog can see, I have repurposed the 'skullderpads' from an older WIP that I never finished. The model is based on the FW Traitor Legion Librarian model mixed with bits from the Bloodsecrator (seriously, who names these AoS guys?)and various other kits. Still waiting for all the Crozius bits to arrive.

blood in

Decided to try a new scheme for Khorne Demons. Wanted to go for something more fleshy and less cartoon bad guy red. Did a red base, dry brushing with khaki up to bone then washing with flesh wash and red wash. Did some spot washes with black. Any way, this is a test piece and was painted fairly quickly. Oh, also I was listening to black metal, so I gave it some corpse paint around it's eyes...

Long time voyeur, first time WIP'er (for this paint style)

So many ages ago, when White Dwarf was probably either still in the double digits or just graduating into the triples, I saw the now ancient Dark Angels Captain painted up in metallic green. My young mind was blown. I loved it so much. At that time, I was only really into Warhammer Fantasy however, I kept flipping back to that page. Unfortunately, I cannot find the pic of that paint job online, only a bare pewter version of the model as seen below.

Recently, Forgeworld made that image come flooding back to the front of my mind by doing a superb metallic green/blue on the Alpha Legion. That brought me back to the World Eaters and an idea I abandoned long ago. Khorne Berzerkers with dark metallic red armor. Armor that looked like it had been stained red over 10,000 years of savage butchery while vying for the attention of their cruel and bloody god. In a moment of fever dream like impulse, I pulled out the model of Zhufor that was purchased for me as a birthday gift about 9 years back and went to work. Please keep in mind, this is a test piece, not meant to be a final 'show quality' paint job. I do see somethings I might do a little differently to make some of the features, such as the helmet, pop a little more. Also, there is still bare primer left, I do intent to finish the model...

For the metallic red, the model was primed black, dry brushed with brass, highlighted with liberator gold, then washed with earthshade, black and red. Then highlighted again in liberator gold and washed red. I really wanted to capture a dark an worn look to the armor, rather than some squeaky clean new loyalist scum's scheme.

Take two of these and call me in the morning...

I have only been making incremental progress on multiple minis. This last month or so has been pretty busy.

Anyway, here is a WIP of a Nurgle aligned Dr./Chirurgeon. He, and his little servo-assistant will accompany a rogue -]|[- that I am also working on and will reveal soon.

I am planning on adjusting the brass-rod that the servo-assistant is attached to, in order to make it sway a little bit back. It is not glued at this point however, and the weight of the servo-head will not let it stand up. So, as soon as I am less tired and have a little less beer in me, I will make the adjustment.

All about that mace.

Good morning! So, I did a bits trade with Krautscientist over at Eternal Hunt. Originally, I was going to use a demon-hammer head on this conversion as I thought it would be super cool and fluffy. But then Krautscientist waved this Dragon Ogre mace in my face and showed me it's scale and I couldn't help but bite. As I am sure he will tell you, I am pretty stubborn once I have my mind set about how I am going to convert a mini, but dammit, if he wasn't right about this bit being perfect! Thanks man!

At the moment, the mace bits are just pinned in. This isn't the final angle, also I will have to do some Green-stuffing, bleh. In addition, I added a MkIII vambrace to the gauntlet to see how that would work. I feel like it ties in perfectly. Now all that is left is figuring out servo arms configurations...

More Drone WIPs

Added some tubing and basing to the Drone tonight. Still have to add a little pestilent girth to the body. Not too much though.

Progress on the True-scale Death Guard Dark Apostle

I think there are still a lot of little things to be done however, he is mostly in shape as far as the majority of the work is concerned. Still needs some cables going from the speakers to the backpack as well as some random cables from body to backpack. Also considering some little spikes and shrunken heads. I was originally going to attach the shrunken heads to the curved horns/spikes coming out of the arm under the shoulder pads, but I think that may be too much going on in that one area. Shoulder pads are from Master Crafted Miniatures large should pads section, I totally love these things.

This piece is very much inspired by the work of Adrian Smith.
