Here is a WIP of an EC's Lord. I wanted to go with something elegant yet sinister. i am most pleased with the backpack. This has been constructed using 29 bits from 9 different kits; Sanquinary Guard, Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels Upgrade Sprue, Dark Eldar Raider, Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors, Demonettes, Seekers of Slannesh, Vampire Counts Grave Guards and Chaos Warriors Champion of Slannesh on Demonic Mount.

don't get me wrong, i love red. it just gets sooo exhausting. luckily, nurgle is always fun to paint, you know, with all the color mixing and washes and foul things. anyway, took a defiler brake.

another worldeater lord, this one in terminator armor. i am using bits from the chaos fantasy knights, chaos terminator lord, kharn, logan grimnar and chaos space marine aspiring champion.

worldeater terminators. all of the shoulder pads and arms are magnetized so i can swap them out with other weapons. i ran out of magnets so the other options are not pictured.

the backpacks are just tacked on for effect. the models still need some cleaning and detailing.

i have spent the last few weeks fighting getting sick and losing. as much as i wanted to paint i could not focus. damn watery eyes and sore neck. however, i did get possessed by the urge to convert a defiler. i have never been satisfied with the original model. i loved all the bits but was left feeling, ehh, about the final result. the giant ape armed claws seemed goofy, esspecially for dread CC weapons. the head was akward and sitting on top of an obese hull, perfect for nurgle or orks mind you, not for anything else. so i put the project into the back of my mad brain to let it grow. after several years of ignoring it, it exploded out over the weekend. a few things inspired this conversion. first and foremost it was the genius of roy, he built a defiler with the head coming out of the front of the torso and mounted the cannon on the arm. BRILLIANT! second, i saw a few 4 legged conversions online and i realized that i could convert the front legs to be CC weapons. last, the lovely chaos models that forgeworld has released over the last few years. i had to order some bits to complete this model so now, i wait. for shoulder pads. thanks to rabidchild for donating the defiler kit. anyway, i know that my blog is like playboy, you all just visit for the pictures, so, here they are...

glossed the black and purpled the tongues. i am not normally a fan of glossing my minis however, i feel that it gives the bloodletters an alien kind of feel. also glossing them reminds me of the character, darkness, from legend.

gave him a different combi-melta, added more gubbins around the waist and legs, gave him a backpack 'trophy' with some sculpted flak armor. next up, paint!

the helmet is not glued in so it is leaning a little more that the completed model will.

i put together some bases for the WE's last night. i am not sure if i love or hate the mars effect i have going on. i may just go back to a more gray tone. the ruin bits are miscast scrap that my friends had from some of the hirst plaster kits.

worked on the brass monday night. i am very pleased with the dark and weathered look that i have achieved. tonight, i blocked in 3 of the berzerkers with my burnt cad. red base before my eyes started to bug out. thanks to rabid child for helping figure out that i suck, not my camera :)

World Eaters test paint

i bought some new paints and decided to do a test paint for my World Eaters army on an old Kharn model. i am going for a dark and dirty look. like the armor actually gets used. thanks again to daughters of the emperor for use of the camera!

reds are; vallejo model color's burnt cad. red, gory red and a 1/1 mix of gory red with citadel foundation's macharius solar orange.

brass is; undercoat of vallejo color's reflective green and reaper's highland moss with vallejo model color's brass drybrused on highlighted with a 1/1 of the brass and vallejo model color siver lightly drybrushed over the highlights followed by various washes of citadel's devlan mud, gryphonne sepia and a touch of thraka green.

i know i did not drill out the barrell, it is just a test paint!

gore effects; tamiya color's clear red with just a small dab of vallejo game color's black.

so, i've done a little work on the bloodthirster; started working on the axe, added some more horns and other small details. in addtion, i've started putting together my forgeworld World Eaters and the rhino to carry them in, a WE lord and a few test paintings on old models. unfortunately, everyting is on hold while i wait for some online trade bits to get in so i can finish my models up.

thats better! i took my bloodthirster on a date to get some glamor shots. thanks to daughter of the emperor and her man for letting me use their far superior photography equipment. your skulls will go with those of the worthy!!!

anyway, i sculpted hair, added spine horns and forearm armor.

my bloodthirster now has some of his armor. both shoulderpads and greaves are done. the press molds worked suprisingly well. i am pleased. once again these are taken with my cell cam so they are a bit blurry.

i bought the balrog kit, put it together and started filling in the many gaps with greenstuff. if you look close, you can see the horns i added to the underchin. i have one more set of horns for the top of the head but am waiting to add those till i get the back finished up. now must go raid the bits box for fun stuff to add to this beast. (this was taken on my cellphone as there are not any detail bits or colors to show off.)
